Our Curriculum

Our curriculum follows the guidelines set out in the National Quality Framework, which has been designed by the Australian Government to ensure best possible care and education for our children. 

In simple terms, this guideline covers seven (7) Quality areas. These are:

  1. Educational Program & Practice
    • Your child is supported to participate in play and learning
  2. Childrens Health & Safety
    • Your child is protected from illness and hazards
  3. Physical Environment
    • Your child plays in a safe and well-maintained environment
  4. Staffing Arrangements
    • There are enough qualified staff to give your child the attention they need
  5. Relationships with Children
    • Your child is made to supported and welcomed
  6. Collaborative Partnerships with Families & Communities
    • Local community involvement and respect for the beliefs and values of families
  7. Governance & Leadership
    • Your child is cared for in a positive and well managed environment

CHILDREN LEARN THROUGH PLAY

  • Research has shown that children learn best through play, all of the interactions, routines and activities that your child will experience at The Heights Pre-School enourages and supports their learning and development.
  • The staff carefully plan and supervise the program around the children's interests, ensuring that they are engaged, and inspired with their learning.
  • The children are free to choose the areas of interest in which they will participate throughout the day, both individually and as part of a group.
  • The program aims to develop children’s skills in all developmental areas: physical, emotional, social, language and creativity through a variety of activities in both the indoor and outdoor environments.
  • Each child’s development is also documented and recorded through Kinderloop and class room stories and art books & parent feedback.
  • During outdoor play in the morning and afternoon children are grouped together.
